the travels of "Simantha" our Virgin Blue Virtual Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

When we fly online we often simulate Virgin Blue or Pacific Blue real-life flights, via the Virtual Airline VOZVA - of which we are members. They asked us to simulate the delivery flight of Boeing 737-800 VHVUP from Boeing Field to Brisbane on 28/29 June 2008..We flew the same route on the same days (mostly) as the real aircraft

Climbing out from Seattle and heading westbound for the coast.   My FO was on strike, so I could only take pics here and there. 'George' is flying in this pic :).
Quite a lot of mid-level cloud on the climb, and quite bumpy too.
Leaving the west coast and heading out over the Pacific ocean.
On the cruise and picking up 40 knots of headwind at FL380. To be expected when flying in this direction.
Cruising high over the Pacific. It was typically calm over the equator before we picked up good tailwinds (around 25 knots) heading toward Hawaii.
On descent into Hawaii - lots of tropical afternoon build-ups and some towering cumulus made for a picturesque descent, and a little cell-dodging with the help of the radar.
Just turned final for the ILS approach into Lihue. The weather was clear below 4000 ft and light winds for a smooth approach.
On a 2 mile final for the runway now, the blue/green waters looked inviting (for a swim later on that is!)
After touchdown and turned off the runway, taxiing in to the ramp for an overnight stay.
Shut down on the ramp. Flight time: 5:44 hrs Fuel burn: 14436 kgs   Time for a beer.   Leg 2 > | Leg 3 >
